The project was designed for a family that had summered on Coolidge Point for generations. The existing house was not winterized – the goal was to create a new all-season living space that afforded some privacy from the multi-generational main house, and encouraged interaction when desired. The solution was to connect the old and new wings with a 40-foot-long, shared kitchen, opening onto a spacious deck overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The waterproofed deck covered a storage area for canoes, kayaks and outdoor furniture. Twin stairs connect to a garden of granite boulders and native seaside plants.
