The Busch-Reisinger Museum’s collection of Northern European art was moved to a modern, climate-controlled facility. The 1901 era building became the Center for European Studies. On the exterior, the primary task was conservation. The interiors required a more extensive reworking, creating faculty offices, seminar rooms and a central stair in what had been a cavernous Neo-Renaissance museum. Care was taken to preserve or duplicate as much of the building fabric as possible, including commissioning the Moravian tile company to reproduce their 1901 floor tiles, and, replacing the original Hopes steel windows with new double-pane versions.
