The Garner Art Center houses a community of sculptors, painters, woodworkers and other craftspeople within a repurposed 19th century textile mill complex. In addition to needed structural stabilization and accessibility, Building 35 was transformed into GAC’s principal galley and exhibition space by minimizing design intervention and revealing the existing building’s generous volume, varied textures and industrial patina as a backdrop for contemporary art.
